Reaction Dynamics receives $1.5M in contributions from the Canadian Space Agency

Reaction Dynamics, a Canadian launch vehicle manufacturer, is proud to announce that it has been awarded two highly competitive technology development contributions from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). The CSA is supporting innovation for the growth of the Canadian space industry and aims to reduce technological unknowns through the Space Technology Development Program (STDP). These contributions will allow Reaction Dynamics to further develop its innovative rocket engine as well as hasten its progress towards providing a made-in-Canada launch capability.

The first contribution of $1,000,000 was awarded for the proposal - “Development of a full-scale rocket engine demonstrator for an orbital launch vehicle” and is expected to be fulfilled in 18 months. The primary objective of this project is to develop a full-scale rocket engine demonstrator for ground testing based on the company’s proprietary hybrid propulsion technology. This full-scale demonstrator is designed to achieve performance metrics matching the propulsion system that will power Reaction Dynamics’ launch vehicle.

The second contribution of $500,000 was awarded for the proposal - “Integrated high-efficiency catalytic ignition system for rocket engines”, also expected to be fulfilled in 18 months. The goal of this project is to develop a new rocket engine ignition system using state-of-the-art catalytic materials and validate it on Reaction Dynamics’ test facility. The development of this system will increase Reaction Dynamic’s technical edge on its competition with additional proprietary and patented technologies.

Founded in 2016, Reaction Dynamics is a Canadian small satellite launch vehicle manufacturer and operator.  The company’s mission is to provide an affordable, reliable, and fast launch capability for small satellites, opening outer space to any entrepreneur with related interests. Reaction Dynamics is currently working towards commercial spaceflight by 2022.
